Fire crews are getting closer to fully surrounding the 1348 acre Galena Fire burning west of Fort Collins next to Horsetooth Reservoir. According to the Larimer County Sheriff's office, the blaze is currently 85 percent contained.
More than 130 firefighters have been battling the fire, which was morning. At a press conference Monday, Emergency Services Specialist Tony Simons says crews have made good progress building a fire line on its western edge.
"At this point, we鈥檙e being successful in our tactics, and we鈥檙e anticipating being able to maintain those same tactics," he said. "So I believe we will be successful in containing this fire."
No structures have been destroyed. Authorities continue to investigate the fire鈥檚 origin. It is believed to be human-caused, but not the result of an escaped campfire, or a controlled or prescribed burn.
All pre-evacuation notices are canceled, although authorities are cautioning residents to remain alert for changing conditions.
Both Lory State Park and Horsetooth Mountain Park remain closed due to the fire.
